An xpat taken by The Police
There is just something special about singing along with Sting as you echo him; wearing that smile from ear to ear. Most of the time people had their hands in the air, either clapping or waving in beat with the music, but boy did we just want to dance. The atmosphere was electric, the act astonishing, and the fever that was created could have kept us all there for days.
The warm-up band, Fictionplane, could have been skipped to be fair. They are good sports who are here from England, but the content of the songs, and the meaning of the lyrics could not in anyway get you up to the level you have to be at for “Roxanne” or “Don’t Stand”. Thinking of them makes me want to sing them now. I will spare the people here with me.
But one thing I can say for both of these bands, is that the drummers played their hearts out, broke sticks and made the experience explosive and as exciting as we all had hoped for.
If you can, check out The Police on tour because it is one to tell the grandchildren.
